Noise Management in European Ports (NoMEPorts)

Copenhagen Malmö Port participated in the NoMEPorts project together with a number of European ports, universities and other participants.

The main objective of the project is to develop a common good practice guide, from which ports and local authorities through noise mapping and noise management can become inspired to reduce noise, noise-related annoyance and health problems of people living around port industrial areas. The project was funded by the European Commission LIFE-Environment Programme.

The Good Practice Guide was published at a conference in Amsterdam 24th May 2008. You can download the good practice guide from this page or from the NoMEPorts homepage.

The noise mapping of the Freeport area in Copenhagen demonstrates, that there is no noise problems from the port activities, as the noise does not exceed noise limit values at residential areas. Most noise in the surroundings of the Freeport arises from the public road and rail transport along Kalkbrænderihavnsgade.

More information about the NoMEPorts project may be fetched from the NoMEPorts homepage.
