Ferry traffic from CMP includes passenger traffic as well as combined passenger and ro-ro traffic. More than 800,000 passengers board every year.

CMP’s market position is based on:
  • Central location in the Nordic area
  • A home market of almost 4 million consumers and offers number of interesting attractions and sights
  • Destinations with interesting sights and attractions for tourists

CMP has passenger traffic to Norway and Germany. DFDS operates a route Copenhagen–Oslo, and is CMP’s largest passenger-shipping customer.  Operating to and from Travemünde, the ro-ro company Nordö-Link also carries private vehicles and campers.

The ferry activity at CMP has a number of advantages:

The ferries in Copenhagen depart from the DFDS Terminal at Søndre Frihavn. The terminal was opened in 2004 and is located behind the pier of Langelinie. The terminal includes three ferry berths, providing much-improved passenger and cargo facilities. In Malmö the terminal at Nyhamnen has fenced-in waiting space and provides easy access to the main motorway network.

The relocation of ferry traffic in Malmö to Norra hamnen in 2011 provided the ideal framework for shipping companies that wish to establish new east–west ro-ro connections in the Baltic Sea with the potential for carrying tourists on motoring holidays.
