Every year CMP handles large quantities of liquid bulk. During 2007 a total of 7.2 million tons of liquid bulk was handled via quay either at Prøvestenen in Copenhagen or at the terminals in Olje Hamnen in Malmö. That makes CMP one of the large ports in the region.
Johan Röstin (46 years) has been appointed new Managing Director and will assume the directorship latest at May 1st 2009.
Copenhagen Malmö Port's entire machine park is to be fitted with diesel particulate filters by 2010.
Last night, Copenhagen was once again voted Europe's Leading Cruise Port at the 2008 World Travel Awards.
The company OW Bunker is one of the absolute largest suppliers of bunkers. During the last year the company has renewed the fleet of bunker vessels. 12 vessels representing state of the art shall continue, maintain and strengthen OW Bunkers marked position.
At the beginning of November 2008, it is expected that a contractor agreement will be signed for the construction of new terminals in Norra Hamnen, Malmö, provided that negotiations with a building contractor can be concluded in October.
The redundancies that Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) had announced for dock workers are now being withdrawn. CMP has entered into an agreement which will make it unnecessary to abolish 15 jobs.
The sales of new cars are currently decreasing and that can be observed all over the branch handling new cars. CMP is reducing the number of employee to meet the decrease the activity therefore.
Season 2008 will soon be history, and another record in Cruising is set. More than 300 Cruise vessels have called CMP.
Carnival Cruise line is the worlds largest cruise line. Their new cruise vessel Carnival Splendor, sailed on July 10th on it's inaugural tour from Dover.
The Swedish Maritime sector is developing very positive.
Cruises develop and every year new records are set. During the 2008 season a total of 305 cruise vessels will call. That is a record for CMP.
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) the large private Chinese container line is registered at the Hong Kong stock exchange. The shipping line is one of the largest container lines worldwide offering international transports, Logistics solutions and Terminal services.
Increased economic activity in the Øresund Region and in Russia has positive impact on Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP).
The board of CMP decided at its latest board meeting that the time is ripe for growth in the Baltic Sea region. Expansion is consistent with the current company strategy and will be achieved either by partnerships, mergers with other port and terminal operators or acquisitions.
Scrap has turned into a resource that has to be recycled again and again to enable us to keep our natural resources.
