Prøvestenen is the hub which supplies a large proportion of Copenhagen with oil- and dry bulk products. The dry bulk operation is now expanding. The Dansk Natursten company has already expanded its activities and moved into a larger new space. CMP is currently holding discussions with further companies within dry bulk. This makes it likely that more cooperation agreements will be signed in the near future.
Expansion through landfill
The background to the expansion is that new areas are being created at Prøvestenen through landfill – areas that will be used for dry bulk, break bulk and warehouse activities. Investments have also been made in quays and other infrastructure in connection with these 180,000 square metres. It enables even larger ships to load and unload in the area.
The landfill is going to continue. In the next stage a further 100,000 square metres will be created at the liquid bulk terminals in the northern part of Prøvestenen. At the same time new tanks are going to be built for storage of oil and chemicals in the area.
