Growth in the number of Christmas cruises and passengers visiting Copenhagen in December
Copenhagen is attracting increasing numbers of cruise passengers in December. It is English ships in particular that are calling in during the Christmas month, with visitors wanting to experience an atmospheric Copenhagen with Christmas decorations, and not least Tivoli.
”The fact that Tivoli is open in December is a major bonus, with the cosy Christmas market and the amusements. The excursion to Tivoli is always the most popular,” says Arnt Møller Pedersen, COO Cruise & Ferries, CMP.
Copenhagen’s leading status among Europe’s cruise destinations has also had an effect on the development of the Christmas cruises.
”Even though the arrivals in December do not represent a large proportion of the cruise season’s overall arrivals, it is still an increase. This year we will receive six ships, whereas in 2011 it was only two. ”
The six cruise liners calling in at Copenhagen from the start of the Christmas month until 27 December are ”Black Watch”, ”Saga Sapphire”, ”Aurora”, ”Balmoral”, ”Queen Elizabeth” and ”Boudicca”.
