During the second quarter Finnlines’ profit increased to EUR 14.5 million (SEK 135 million). This is the shipping company’s best quarterly results for eight years. Finnlines occupies a leading position within RoRo and passenger services in Northern Europe and its lines include Malmö – Travemünde. The strong quarterly figures are linked to the efficiencies and savings that have been implemented. The results improved by EUR 25 million (SEK 230 million) during the first six months of 2014 compared with the same period last year. In a comment, CEO and President Emanuele Grimaldi says that the work on adaptations and efficiencies should continue.
”It is obvious that the company cannot afford any loss-making services, routes or ships. We will therefore be developing solutions to restore profitability in all parts of the business.”
