The arrival of the Nordic Philip at CMP’s terminal represented a new record for the number of containers handled from a single ship
CMP’s container terminal in Copenhagen performed its largest container operation ever on a single ship when the Nordic Philip arrived with 776 containers that had to be handled.
”The job was divided into 439 containers for unloading, and 337 containers for loading on board,” says Dennis Bach, Planner at CMP’s terminal.
”Everything went as planned. We started at 09.40 on the Friday and were finished at 02.10 on Saturday morning, so it took just under 17 hours for the 776 lifts. We had two cranes in operation throughout the operation”.
The Nordic Philip, which is operated by Seago Line, arrived at CMP from Wilhelmshaven and departed for Helsingborg. CMP is an important hub and of the larger container terminals in the Öresund region. Distributed over the terminals in Copenhagen and Malmö, it specialises in feeder traffic from ports such as Hamburg, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven.
CMP has worked hard to increase quality in relation to container traffic, resulting in less damage and well-trained staff who ensure effective handling both in terms of lifting and transportation in the terminal.
CMP’s record for the total number of container lifts in a single day is 1,146 on 19 January 2012, however, the work was distributed over five ships.
